2. Services
We research the World War II military service of U.S. servicemembers. A Basic Research commission is intended for one identified individual and, when suitable, includes a reviewed service-history summary, source references, relevant archival links and a brief guide to further research. The findings depend on surviving, accessible records; no particular discovery or complete biography is guaranteed.
Basic Research is currently described for U.S. Army servicemembers only. Extended Research, including wider archival, newspaper, book or field research, requires an individually agreed scope, price and schedule before any paid work begins.
3. Free preliminary assessment
The preliminary assessment is free and creates no obligation to buy. It provides only a general indication of likely record types, availability and whether Basic Research may be suitable. It does not include copies of records, detailed findings or comprehensive source references. It is not a paid research order.
4. Price, order formation and payment
The advertised Basic Research price is €95. Before any order is accepted, the total price, applicable taxes, scope, payment method and delivery estimate must be disclosed. Extended work is quoted individually.
This preview has no checkout, payment processing or active payment links. No order can be placed or paid for through this website. A research inquiry submitted through our form provider or by email is not an accepted paid order. Inquiry form data is routed through FormSubmit as described in our Privacy Policy. A contract will only arise after a future order process presents the terms and full information, the customer affirmatively places the order, and WW2 Service Histories confirms acceptance on a durable medium.
PayPal, Holvi and bank transfer have been considered as possible payment methods, but none is represented here as configured or currently available. No payment should be sent unless a future written offer identifies the actual method and recipient.
5. Customer information
Customers should provide information reasonably available to them, such as full name, alternative spellings, birth details, Army Serial Number (ASN), branch, unit, dates and locations. A unique service number helps distinguish people with similar names. Without a reliable identifier, we cannot guarantee that a record relates to the intended individual. Material uncertainty will be noted where reasonably possible.
6. Historical sources and reasonable care
Historical records can contain errors, omissions, inconsistent dates, transcription or OCR mistakes, and incorrect identifications. Some records have been lost, destroyed, restricted or are not digitised. We cannot guarantee that every relevant source will be found. We will perform the agreed research with reasonable professional care and skill and identify significant limitations where reasonably possible. New evidence may change historical conclusions.
7. Historical Interpretations, Speculation and Independent Verification
WW2 Service Histories research reports may contain professional interpretations, historical assessments, hypotheses and reasoned speculation concerning historical events, individuals, military activities, locations and circumstances.
Such interpretations and hypotheses represent the researcher's professional assessment of the available historical evidence. They should not be understood as independently verified historical facts unless explicitly supported by reliable sources.
Where reasonably possible, the report distinguishes documented facts from uncertain interpretations, hypotheses and speculation.
Before using any part of the research report in further research, academic publications, family history books, genealogical publications, public presentations, commercial projects or other external purposes, the client or subsequent reader should independently verify the relevant information against reliable historical sources.
This verification should also include examining the original archival documents and checking the accuracy, relevance and applicability of the citations, references and source links provided in the report.
WW2 Service Histories does not guarantee that historical interpretations or hypotheses will remain unchanged if additional evidence becomes available.
These provisions do not exclude the researcher's obligation to exercise reasonable professional care and skill or limit any mandatory rights under applicable consumer protection law.
8. Delivery
Reports are intended to be delivered electronically, ordinarily by email. The estimated delivery time for Basic Research is 10–14 business days after payment and valid authorisation to begin. Business days are Monday to Friday excluding Finnish public holidays. If work is not validly requested to start during the statutory withdrawal period, the estimate begins after that period expires. A future order confirmation will state the applicable estimate. We will communicate material delays and respect mandatory consumer remedies.
9. Copyright and use
We do not claim ownership of third-party archival records. Original records may carry separate access, reproduction or copyright restrictions. Customers may use factual findings and citations in personal or family-history research, subject to third-party restrictions. Copyright in original report text remains with its rights holder; substantial reproduction or commercial redistribution may require permission except where permitted by law.
10. Complaints and remedies
Please report mistaken identifications, materially inaccurate citations, missing agreed work or other concerns to WW2ServiceHistories@gmail.com. We will review documented concerns. Applicable statutory remedies for defective or delayed service remain available. Additional historical evidence alone does not necessarily mean the original service was defective.
11. Withdrawal and refunds
The separate Cancellation & Refund Policy forms part of these terms. Where applicable, consumers have a 14-day statutory withdrawal right for distance service contracts. Early commencement requires an express request and the legally required acknowledgement. A proportionate charge may apply to work completed before a valid withdrawal only where legal conditions are met. The right may end after full performance only where all statutory conditions have been fulfilled. Payment alone does not remove the right.
12. Privacy
See the Privacy Policy for information about data handling. Details of providers and actual processing arrangements must be verified before the site accepts personal data or orders.
13. Liability and mandatory rights
We are responsible for performing agreed services with reasonable professional care and skill. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for source errors that could not reasonably have been identified within the agreed scope or for independent decisions to use findings outside that scope. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.
14. Governing law and disputes
Finnish law applies, without removing mandatory consumer protections. Please contact us first to resolve concerns. Consumers may seek guidance from Finnish Consumer Advisory Services and refer eligible disputes to the Finnish Consumer Disputes Board. Mandatory rights to bring proceedings before a competent court remain unaffected.
